In a rebellious, evil infested world, peace comes at a price. The motive for war should be the advancement of good and protecting people from evil in order to bring peace. Tragically, the bloodshed of innocent lives is the result of attaining such victory. We should be ever grateful to those who sacrifice their lives so that we might live in peace.
Too often, war is the only option in order to defend one society from the terror of another. Great discernment must be exercised in order to justify risking lives in combat. Yet war is not limited to the battlefield. Sometimes, "peace" simply means that opposing forces are not actively fighting, but the battle is still escalating in the souls of each side.
With God, there is no neutral territory in the war of the minds. Each of us has to take a side. Luke 11:23 Matthew 12:30-31 This battle is most evident when it comes to worldviews. The secular worldview tends to view truth as relative. The Biblical worldview is grounded in the absolute Truth authored by God. Therefore, choosing not to choose, is positioning yourself against God.
In rebellious, evil infested hearts, peace with God comes at a price. Tragically, the bloodshed of one innocent life was the result of attaining that victory. We should be ever grateful to the One who sacrificed His life so that we might live in peace.
Throughout our lives, we will continue to wage war in many areas of our lives—troubled relationships, tragedies, financial loss... any number of circumstances that can cause great heartache, anxiety and depression. Yet in the midst of turmoil, for the believer in Christ, each of these battles has already been won in eternity by the Prince of Peace. John 16:33 1John 4:4
The future of mankind faces more wars and rumors of wars. God never judges the world without a warning. Corruption and violence continued until the day that the door of the Ark was shut, but those who mocked and criticized Noah couldn't say they weren't warned. Genesis 6:11-13 Did God mean it? Just flying in an airplane (or soaring over Google Earth) you can clearly see evidence of massive rapid liquid erosion over the entire planet. This is paralleled by the equally massive worldwide tomb of billions of diverse fossils densely buried beneath our feet. Fossils only occur when a plant or animal is rapidly buried soon after it dies (or dies as a result of being buried).
Long after Isaiah's prophetic testimony, Isaiah 34:1-10 Matthew, Mark, Luke and John record Jesus' clear warning about the things to come. Matthew 24:3-8 Mark 13:5-8 Luke 21:25-32 Revelation 1:1-3 He will return in His Shekinah glory as promised, "They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory." Matthew 24:30 Mark 13:26 For those who choose to accept Christ's invitation, this Prince of Peace is the only source of stability in a shaky world. John 14:27 He will rule with all authority over all people, all nations, of every language—and His kingdom will never be overthrown. Daniel 7:14 He is our peace in the midst of our storms. Luke 8:24-26 And He crafted the ultimate weapon to defend absolute Truth. Hebrews 4:12 2Corinthians 10:4-5
